Microinverters and System (String) Inverters
What do they do?
Inverters convert power from direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC) which is what your home uses. They also have maximum power point tracking (MPPT) to adjust your system to maximise your power production.
Whats the difference?
Usually solar panels are strung together, and one panel performing poorly can decrease overall output of your system. Microinverters convert and maximise power for each panel,
A system or string inverter does this at the system level. This means shade and heavy dust can seriously decrease your power production.
Why are microinverters better?
Microinverters, are a much better choice as they ensure each panel has maximum power production without being influenced by the least-productive panel.
Microinverters make your system highly flexible and easily able to expand to include more panels as your budget allows.
